    Re: Transmission Installation Utility

Could you please give an option to install the Transmission software in the router itself?
RT-N16 has 32MB Flash so should be enough to get this popular app "built in".
    TIA!

It can be done but i think is pointless.
On every firmware upgrade or even at nvram reset your app and cache will be lost.

These don't happen often, I think.
The advantage of being able to change usb storage without preparing and use any supported file system (FAT32, NTFS, etc.) would be more important.

    Re: Transmission Installation Utility

Hi all, and thank you for this wonderfull forum and thread.

I installed transmission on my wnr3500l router shortly after installing Tomato.
It works, the web interface too.

Only problem is that the download is very unstable, spiking from 300 to 900 kB/s for a ubuntu torrent download for example.
A top command tells me that io is more than 95% of the CPU use.
My guess is that there are too many connections at once, so if there's a guide to where config files are, thanks for letting me know.

The config file of transmission is on /tmp/harddisk/torrent/.config/settings.json

You can use nano editor to change what you want.
    Code:
    nano /tmp/harddisk/torrent/.config/settings.json
In Case you don't have nano then write on Putty or Telnet...
    Code:
    ipkg install nano
    Or Download Winscp from HERE..

Find the Folder and file and double-click it to edit.

    I hope i helped you.

BTW.. Welcome here and enjoy your stay.

    Re: Transmission Installation Utility

Thanks for that, I've been playing a little with the settings, but the spikes are still there giving an overall 25% efficiency as opposed to usual bandwidth.
I have around 1 000 kB/s capability with my DSL, and have them in transmission on my linux box or µtorrent on my windows box when testing on a Ubuntu torrent.

for my first tests with tomato embeded transmission to a usb key, I get a 250kB/s average. Which isn't that bad for a very energy efficient and noiseless solution.
I don't know if I can continue to discuss that here or if a new thread would be a better option.

Should I find a solution, I will gladly post it.

    Thanks!
