Really getting addicted hacking a website together and checking all features of the optware packages, I unfortunately still didn't manage to get Polipo or Privoxy to work (can't access them... probably not even running).
During installation I kept a close eye to the script running (12.4), but never saw anything really concerning (except that all router settings were reset after it completed. I fixed this by loading config I saved after running the 11.6 script).
http://p.p - Privoxy and http://my.router:8123 don't go anywhere for me.
According this thread, it doesn't seem like anyone else has trouble with this, or nobody cares about these two packages.
Edit bi BigAl: Think I got it resolved. Whose silly idea was it anyway to use a flash-based memory stick to run optware and swap(!!)... Power efficient, quiet and really thought that it would probably last a year before the flash would get corrupted due to surpassing the maximum amount of write cycles. Unfortunately it only took less than a week to get corrupted.
It went gradually, so therefore I didn't notice. It became very obvious when Init.d showed up as a file instead of a directory and the file size surpasing the total size of the memory-stick! All optware services obviously didn't run anymore after a reboot.
Anyhow, got an old 20GB screamer (Quantum Fireball) running now and it looks pretty again. Also got Polipo somewhat in the works.
Long story a bit shorter; if you are running optware from a USB flash drive, please consider that most flash only support 10k or 100k write cycles. Not much considering that by default, RRD causes rewriting the same file(s) and cron logs to be written about every 5 minutes (unless you hack it differently like I did). In addition, the SWAP partition is probably even worse...
